At present we are fully immersed in Vintage 2013, however that hasn't stopped us from releasing a brand new wine available, the 2012 Kalleske Plenarius at $25 per bottle via the order page
Ingredients: 100% certified biodynamic grapes. single vineyard Viognier grapes wild fermented on skins for 7 days. matured in hogsheads for 10 months. bottled unfined & unfiltered. naturally cloudy. naturally amber in colour. no added sulphites.
Plenarius is a white wine made from our tiny single vineyard Viognier block. This style of wine is more commonly known in Europe and often referred to as an 'orange wine' as the colour of the wine is orange/amber due to extended skin contact with the grape juice during fermentation.
At this stage this wine is a one off and may never be released again. So make sure you don't miss out on this truly special wine from a spectacular vintage, as there is only a small quantity available. Click Here to Order
Tasting Notes:
Plenarius is cloudy scotch amber in colour. Extremely vivid and uplifting. Aromatics burst from the glass - flowers, fig, honey, mint, orange peel, musk, nuts and talc. Tremendously intriguing.
Full flavoured with solid body. Texture is amazing - chewy and layered. Tannins are lightly present adding a subtle grip. Wine is soft and round but has balanced natural acid providing freshness. It is dry but with an oily roundness. Very lingering finish.
Overall this is an enjoyable and enthralling wine. A complex mesh of aromas, flavours and textures providing a provocative and enchanting drink.

/2013Well, it’s the 1st of February, holiday season well and truly over and almost time for vintage. The start to vintage 2013 is now only about 2 weeks away with the Chenin Blanc and first of the Shiraz likely to be harvested mid February. This is about 2-3 weeks earlier than normal due to the extreme drought we’ve experienced in the past 9 months.
The vintage 2013 winter and growing season has been about 50% drier than normal and it has also been warmer too. This has resulted in very low crop levels on the vine and as a result earlier ripening. So quantity will be down, however, quality at this stage is looking sensational. Berries are very small giving a high skin to juice ratio and hence excellent colour and flavour intensity. We’ll ultimately only know in the next few months but so far looking good for some stunning wines from 2013 - Troy Kalleske.

It's been an eventful year at Kalleske, from taking out 'Biodynamic Wine of the Year' at the London International Wine Challenge to recently being awarded the winner of the 'InterContinental Sustainability Award' at the 2012 Advantage SA Regional Awards night. Not to mention Troy being inducted as a 'Baron of Barossa'.
There's a lot planned for 2013 already and we look forward to sharing it with you soon.

We are happy to release a favourite of ours here at Kalleske, the 2011 Old Vine Grenache along with the 2010 JMK Shiraz VP - just in time for your Christmas table!
The 2011 Old Vine Grenache has already received glowing reviews, with Campbell Mattinson of the Wine Front giving it 93+ Points and saying "Most enjoyable Kalleske grenache in years – and perhaps ever".
2011 Old Vine Grenache
Old Vine Grenache 2011 is medium red in colour. The nose is very lifted with aromatics of red fruits, raspberry, white pepper spice, perfume, black tea, herbs and musk. The medium-bodied palate is flavoursome with dark cherry, crushed raspberry and rhubarb. This distinguished Grenache drinks well now but is ideally suited for serious cellaring.

2010 JMK Shiraz VP
JMK Shiraz VP is deep magenta-black in colour. On the nose there are alluring aromas of toffee, fruit cake, coffee, black plum, cinnamon and nutmeg spice, licorice, cocoa and mature brandy. The full-bodied palate is very mouthfilling with intense flavours of rich dark fruit combined with added complexity from characteristic but balanced brandy spirit.

It's our pleasure to formally announce the availability of the following 6 new vintage release wines.
2010 Eduard Shiraz
As we’ve previously stated, 2010 was a cracker vintage and as a result the 2010 Eduard is rich and flavoursome with solid structure and great balance. Eduard Shiraz 2010 is deep black in colour. The aroma is inviting and forthcoming with prominent black fruit, plum, chocolate, black olive and fruit cake. The palate is full-bodied, generous and mouth-filling with immense concentration.

2011 Greenock Shiraz
This is the tenth vintage release of our Greenock Shiraz. Together with the Old Vine Grenache, Greenock was the first Kalleske wine made in 2002. The 2011 Greenock is undoubtedly 'Greenock' whilst displaying the uniqueness of the cooler and wetter 2011 vintage.

2011 Moppa Shiraz
After four vintages Moppa has continued to gain a strong following as well as many accolades, most notably the Trophy for Best Wine of Show at last year’s Shanghai International Wine Challenge. This fifth release of Moppa continues the pedigree and is again predominantly Shiraz with a trace of Petit Verdot (10%) and Viognier (5%) blended in for added complexity. -

2011 Buckboard Durif
This is our third vintage of Durif and its proving to be a cracking variety no matter what the year gives. While perhaps not quite as 'big' as the 2010 vintage, the 2011 Buckboard is still a massive wine in all respects with plenty of blackness and power with a well-balanced 16.2% alcohol.

2012 Clarry’s GSM
The wines from 2012 are outstanding and up there with 2010 and 2002 as the best wines to come out of our Kalleske winery, so it is now exciting to release the first of our reds from 2012. The 2012 Clarry’s is an outstanding follow on to Biodynamic Wine of the Year and Australia’s Best Red Wine - the 2011 Clarry’s as judged at the 2012 London International Wine Challenge. -

2012 Florentine Chenin Blanc
Chenin Blanc may not be as popular as the other 'Blanc' but after five vintages of this wine, there is definitely a growing interest in Chenin. It’s a great variety that we see sitting between a Sauvignon Blanc and a Chardonnay in terms of weight and flavour. -

It is with great pleasure we report, that Sunday, November 4th saw Troy Kalleske inducted as a 'Baron of Barossa'. This is a tremendous honour and one which Troy and the team at Kalleske are immensely proud of.
"The Wine Fraternity, Barons of Barossa was founded in 1974 by a group of influential Barossa winemakers. George Kolarovich of the Barossa Co-operative [Kaiser Stuhl] was elected as the first Grand Master. Other founding Barons were the late Wyndham Hill-Smith [Yalumba], Colin Gramp [Orlando], the late Bill Seppelt [Seppelts], the late Sir Condor Laucke, Bruce Hoffmann, Peter Lehmann and the late Cyril Henschke.
The Fraternity was modelled on similar organisations which exist in Europe whose aims are to promote wines of the regions and also carry out philanthropic and charitable works.
The Barons of Barossa are a recognised part of the fabric of Barossa culture and continue to play a colourful and symbolic role. The Fraternity’s motto is "Glory to Barossa"
